Milton Cobo & Erin Leger - on2 turn pattern, Vancouver International Salsa Festival 2011 Video Clips. Duration : 5.30 Mins.
UPDATE: get the scoop on next years Vancouver International Salsa Festival straight from the source: salsafestival.ca youtube.com =============== recap from Milton and Erin's on2 turn pattern workshop. Song: El Carretero by Malavoi The first time I took a workshop with Milton I was about 6 months into learning salsa. Needless to say it was completely over my head. But now, 5 years later, everything he's saying is sticking. And its GOOOOOD! One cool thing: Pay attention to how far over Milton's right arm is in a CBL. Way more controlled and comfortable for your follow. This is a Cobo trademark! more info: www.ncsalsa.com
Troy and Jorjet - Dominican Bachata workshop, Vancouver International Salsa Festival 2011 Video Clips. Duration : 8.67 Mins.
UPDATE 2: Purchase DVDS- dancersdome.myshopify.com UPDATE 1: sorry everyone, I don't know the name of the song they use in the first part of the video. i think that's because they have alot of their music created specifically for these workshops. salsafestival.ca youtube.com =============== song: bachata en fukuoka This is a video of the wrap-up demos of the 2 Dominican Bachata workshops that Troy and Jorjet put on at the 2011 Vancouver International Salsa Festival. Courtesy of the nice girl standing next to me, we got an extra detailed breakdown of the steps. Check it out at about the midway point. Troy and Jorjet are just some of the nicest people in the salsa community. They put some much of themselves into the workshops and it really comes through. These clips are great but you really have to take a workshop or a private lesson to understand. If you have the chance, you have to, HAVE TO, learn from them first hand! Worth every penny. A few other observations: - See how Jorjet is leaning back slightly when she dances with Troy in a closed position? That's a big one. you need to maintain that connection with your partner and having some weight against your hand is helpful. This became more apparent when I danced with her, which was fantastic but intimidating! - Notice how there aren't any turn patterns or even alot of turns? its all about connecting with the music and in turn, your partner. You can dance a whole song just doing these basic steps, interpreting the music ...
